Not each of these components requires your everyday attention, other than exceptional circumstances to keep your laptop life span and performance going steady.

What do you need to know about your laptop’s battery?

Some of the most crucial component that requires careful attention is the battery. Laptops generally come in with default configurations set by manufacturer. But you are not limited to them and you are able to change them. How much can you configure depends on the system you are using. Some laptops will let you configure to great extent, some less and some won’t even offer anything such.

Now, for the batteries, almost all of the modern laptop uses Li-Ion batteries. Li-Ion batteries are fantastic and provides the kind of demand modern laptop requires. Still, it has its downside as well which is these batteries are extremely sensitive and may explode if over charge or leaks. The best thing to do is plan ahead of time when you may need to use your laptop on batteries. Based on that, reduce any kind of activities that you know drains out the battery fast. For instance, LCD brightness, USB usage, Wi-Fi usage, any application that do not necessary to run in the background and so on.

Furthermore, if you need to access a file via Thumb drive or over the network using Wi-Fi, you could simply store them in your laptop and work on it.

Sync Center

Windows operating system has a sleek feature called Sync Center. This feature helps you to designate your documents and folder offline. If you connect your laptop a distant, for instance, your office network, all the offline files there are synced with your files and folder on the server. Any kind of change you make here will reflect to the distant filer server, meaning writes to those files. If anyone else, does writes on to the same file, a conflict will pop up which you or other person can resolve.

Right click the folder you want to expose as offline, and select Always available offline. In case, you do not see it in the context menu, you might have to enable this option. To do so, look up online ‘how to enable Sync center’ or ‘Always available offline Windows <version>’. With this, when you want to get access to this file or folder, go to Control Panel and to Sync Center. Click Manage offline files and click View your offline files and you will be in.
